Maria Morrell
Founder and Artistic Director

Maria is a graduate and member of the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston and its affiliate, the American Society of Teachers of Dancing. Maria presently studies at Jeanette Neil’s Dance Studio in Boston, Broadway Dance Center, Luigi Jazz Center, and Steps-on Broadway in New York. She has attended an intense summer teacher’s program at Broadway Dance Center in New York City and served as the Summer Dance Director at Lawrence Academy for many years. Maria also serves as the Dance Director for the Groton School. Another side project of Maria’s involves teaching a Gymni-Crickets program at Ayer Kiddie Depot. She participated in various workshops over the past twenty-seven years, including 2012 PULSE in New York City, the Northeast Workshop of 1999-2001, 1999 through present Summer Arts program at Lawrence Academy, Dance Olympus Convention 1988-98, DTCB Convention in 2003, and Joe Tremaine’s Convention 1992. Maria has performed A Chorus Line with the Action Boxboro Theater and choreographed Carousel for the same group. She was the choreographer for Finian’s Rainbow at Mount Wachusett Community College and Mame at Ayer High School in 1999.

Joy Kapp
Recreational and Competition Instructor

Joy has studied dance for thirty-six years, specializing in Ballet and Pointe. Joy has participated in regional competitions from 1994-1996 and danced for Granite State Ballet productions of the Nutcracker in 1993. She presently takes classes at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, Steps-on Broadway, and Jeanette Neil’s Dance Studio. Joy studied under MCOD, the Granite State School of Ballet and is a 2008 graduate of Teacher’s Training School. She is also a graduate of Fitchburg State College with a Bachelors Degree in Human Services.

Joy is currently our primary instructor teaching a variety of classes for all age levels!

Christine Kidder
Recreational Instructor

Christine began studying dance twenty-nine years ago and has been teaching at Maria’s for sixteen years. She presently takes classes at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, Steps-on Broadway, and Jeanette Neil’s Dance Studio. Christine graduated from Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston’s teacher training school in 1996. Christine spent three seasons performing with the Jennie & Co., a modern dance company based in Fitchburg, and also one season performing with the Atlantis Contemporary Dance Company. Christine has participated in many area dance conventions and continues to enjoy taking classes and attending workshops at local studios and colleges. Christine earned her bachelors degree in business administration from Fitchburg State College in 2001

Kimberly Bourassa
Recreational and Competition Instructor

Kimmy has been dancing for twenty-one years during which time she has participated in regional and national competitions. She is a graduate of Dance Teachers' Club of Boston's teacher training school from 2012. Kimmy has also taken master classes with Victor Smalley at Angel Armas of the Lifetime hit series Dance Mom's Miami and has attended conventions featuring Travis Wall and the Paul Taylor Modern Company. Kimmy graduated from Mt. Wachusett Community College in 2013 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration and from Worcester State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing. She presently studies at the Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey, Brickhouse NYC, and Steps on Broadway in New York City, and Downtown Dance Center. She is also a member of Dance Company Worcester which is an all styles dance company based out of Marlboro, MA where she has performed in showcases and at Worcester's Pride Festival as a backup dancer. In addition to her dance career Kimmy presently helps around the studio with our e-notices and manages our social media pages!

Brendan Falsey
Recreational and Competition Instructor

Brendan started dancing at the age of eight. He studied dance on his own using resources such as YouTube and books to educate himself outside of classes. He has performed with groups such as Expressive Movement, led by Jeff Jean-Philippe, and StriveForChange Lifestyle, led by Vattana Thach. He started teaching in his senior year of high school in 2014, and has since taught in studios and workshops around New England. We are excited to have Brendan on board with us here at Maria's and can't wait to watch our students grow!

Heidi Gendron
Recreational Instructor

Heidi Gendron comes to us with over 28 years of childhood education experience. She currently teaches at Ayer Kiddie Depot where in the 1990's she began offering dance classes. In the 90's Heidi put on a full recital (costumes, choreography, and scenery) for three years! She has been dancing since age four and has studied at: Dorothy Kincades School of Dance, Studio School of Dance under Suzie Michaud, ballet with DeeDee Guercia, and at Maria's School of Dance. Heidi has always been a volunteer and supporter of the studio and after her debut as Ms. Claus in our 2016 production "Need a Little Christmas" we all decided she would be a great addition to the team!
